Central Vietnam - Sands, Winds and Poems

Yesterday I flied with the JPAC team leaders to Quang Binh Province on a former Soviet helicopter. Throughout more than two hundred kilometers, below the helicopter, I saw only sands. Suddently, Dong Hoi City appeared in my eyes. It was small, quite new and beautiful. On the way back, I tried to see the landscapes as much as I could. It would be the only chance in my life to view this area from a helicopter. I explored a special traditional fish hunting way in Tam Giang lagoon where people built many arrow shape fishing traps. I recalled a romantic song "Evening on Tam Giang lagoon" by Tran Thien Thanh and sent a SMS message to many friends telling them about my feelings. Doan Trong Thu, a friend who lives in Da Lat, replied by a short poem. "Are you a poet?" I asked. Thu convinced me that everyone who lives in Central Vietnam can be a poet. "A month age child in a cradle already got folksongs from moms. I am such a man." He said. I think of my mom. She is now ninety years old. Though she can not read, she still can tell "Luc Van Tien" story by poems. The story that I always heard when I was a boy.
