Visit Ha Tien Kien Giang Province
Mac Cuu's Temple
We had a short visit to Ha Tien, Kien Giang Province on August 4-5, 2007. It is a small town but in my opinion, it is the most beautiful town in the Mekong Delta. We visited Mac Cuu's temple and his tomb. He was the founder of Ha Tien. According to the story I read from his temple, Mac Cuu came to Ha Tien three hundred years ago from China. He finally dedicated this land to the Nguyen dynasty.
Ha Tien is bordering with Campuchia. We came to see Xa Xia border gate. However, we did not see much trading activities through the gate.
Ha Tien has few limestone hills. I do not like ideas using this stone to make cement here. In the past, due to lack of raw materials for making cement, the former regime built Ha Tien Cement Factory here. However, two parts of Vietnam were united in 1975. Cement nowaday can make in North Vietnam and transport to the South. We do not need to destroy the beautiful landscapes of Hatien. What happens if one day those hills in Ha Tien disappear?
